What does Job 34:20 mean?

Elihu is reminding Job that no one, no matter how powerful or secure they seem, is beyond death's reach. In an instant, without warning or struggle, even the strongest can be gone. The point isn't to frighten us but to level the playing field: wealth, strength, and status offer no real protection against mortality. This hits differently depending on where we are. If you're exhausted from striving to control everything, it might feel like permission to let go. If you're grieving someone whose death seemed impossibly sudden, it acknowledges that devastating reality. Either way, Elihu is speaking a hard truth meant to redirect our trust away from fragile things and toward something more solid.
