What does Job 28:8 mean?
Job is describing a place so hidden and remote that even the most powerful, fearless creatures of the earth have never found it. The lion, king of beasts, and other wild animals that roam everywhere else simply haven't discovered this location. He's painting a picture of wisdom's dwelling place as somewhere utterly unreachable by ordinary means, somewhere that pride and strength cannot access. In the context of Job's speech, he's been wrestling with the fact that while humans can mine for silver and gold, understanding true wisdom seems impossible. This verse reinforces that idea: wisdom isn't found through the paths we usually travel or by methods that depend on our power and confidence.
