Job 21:13
“They spend their days in prosperity. In an instant they go down to Sheol.”
What does Job 21:13 mean?
Job is describing the frustrating mystery that troubles him: wicked people seem to live comfortably and die suddenly, without the gradual decline or public judgment that justice might look like. He's wrestling with one of life's hardest questions, why do bad things happen to good people and good things happen to bad people? This observation doesn't represent his final answer about God, but rather the raw confusion he's expressing in the middle of his suffering. Sometimes faith includes admitting when life doesn't seem fair, and Job's honest struggle gives permission for ours too.
