What does Job 21:12 mean?
Job is describing the prosperity and happiness of people who seem to ignore God entirely, and it bothers him deeply. He's observing that the wicked often live carefree, joyful lives filled with music and celebration, while he himself suffers despite trying to follow God faithfully. In this moment, Job is wrestling with one of life's hardest questions: why do people who don't care about doing right often seem to have it so much easier than those who do? The music and feasting he mentions aren't wrong in themselves, but Job mentions them to highlight a painful mystery, the gap between what he believes should happen (good people rewarded, bad people punished) and what he actually sees around him.
