“Do you have eyes of flesh? Or do you see as man sees?”
What does Job 10:4 mean?
Job is asking God a pointed question about whether God's perspective is limited the way ours is. He's essentially pushing back: "Are you constrained by human weakness and bias, judging things the way we do?" The question comes from Job's deep pain—he's suffered terribly and can't understand why a supposedly all-knowing God would allow it, and he's wondering if perhaps God simply doesn't see the full picture the way an infinite being should. There's something raw and honest here that shouldn't be overlooked. Job isn't being disrespectful so much as desperate. He's raising the logical tension between a limited human perspective and what an omniscient God should understand. In our own hard seasons, we sometimes wonder similar things: "How could God not see what I'm going through?" or "Why doesn't God understand how unfair this is?" Job's ancient question sits alongside ours across the centuries, and Scripture preserves it as legitimate rather than shameful.
