What does Job 1:9 mean?
Satan is essentially accusing Job of being a "fair-weather" believer, suggesting that Job's faith exists only because God has blessed him with wealth, health, and family. The question cuts to something both of them understand: it's easy to trust God when life is going well and prayers seem answered. Satan is challenging whether Job's devotion runs deeper than self-interest, whether he would still honor God if everything were stripped away.
