Jeremiah 9:25
““Behold, the days come,” says Yahweh, “that I will punish all those who are circumcised only in their flesh:”
What does Jeremiah 9:25 mean?
God is announcing through the prophet Jeremiah that He will hold people accountable, and He's looking beyond external religious markers to what's actually in their hearts. Being circumcised (the physical sign of the covenant) meant nothing if someone's heart wasn't genuinely turned toward God and living faithfully. This is Jeremiah's way of saying that God isn't fooled by outward displays of religious identity when the inner life contradicts them, whether that's among the Jewish people or anyone else claiming to follow Him.
