Jeremiah 8:11

They have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, “Peace, peace,” when there is no peace.

What does Jeremiah 8:11 mean?

When people experience real suffering, sometimes those around them try to smooth things over with easy reassurance instead of doing the hard work of genuine healing. Jeremiah is criticizing leaders and false prophets who tell the people "everything is fine" when their spiritual and social wounds run deep, offering comfort without addressing the actual problems. It's like bandaging a serious infection while ignoring the infection itself. The prophet is calling out this dangerous gap between what people need to hear (truth) and what they're being told (hollow promises), a pattern that leaves wounds untreated and communities deceived.
