What does Jeremiah 51:18 mean?
Jeremiah spoke these words about the idols that Babylon trusted in, carved images that people believed held power but were ultimately empty and false. He's saying that when God comes to judge and "visit" the nation (bringing accountability for their actions), these worthless objects won't save them because they were never real sources of help to begin with. The deeper truth applies beyond ancient Babylon: anything we build our lives around that isn't solid and true, whether it's wealth, status, or false beliefs, will crumble when real testing comes. Jeremiah wanted people to understand that only God endures, and placing our hope anywhere else leaves us defenseless when we most need strength.
