Jeremiah 51:16

β€œWhen he utters his voice, there is a roar of waters in the heavens, and he causes the vapors to ascend from the ends of the earth. He makes lightning for the rain, and brings the wind out of his treasuries.”

What does Jeremiah 51:16 mean?

God's voice sets the whole creation in motion, from the rushing of storm clouds to the rising of moisture from distant horizons. When the prophet describes the Lord speaking, he's showing us that behind every thunderstorm, every flash of lightning, and every wind gust is God's active presence and power. It's a poetic way of saying that nothing in nature operates independently, that creation itself responds to God's word the way you might respond to someone calling your name. For those facing overwhelming circumstances, this image can be deeply comforting: the same God who commands the elements and treasures the wind also holds your situation in his hands.
