Jeremiah 51:14
“Yahweh of Armies has sworn by himself, saying, ‘Surely I will fill you with men, as with the canker worm; and they will lift up a shout against you.’”
What does Jeremiah 51:14 mean?
God is making an unbreakable promise here through the prophet Jeremiah, directed at Babylon during a time when that empire seemed invincible. He swears by his own name (the strongest oath possible) that he will send so many enemy soldiers against Babylon that they'll swarm like locusts, overwhelming the city with their numbers and war cries.
