Jeremiah 50:18
“Therefore Yahweh of Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Behold, I will punish the king of Babylon and his land, as I have punished the king of Assyria.”
What does Jeremiah 50:18 mean?
When Jeremiah speaks these words, Babylon is the rising superpower threatening to destroy Jerusalem. Yet through him, God announces that Babylon's king will face the same judgment that once fell on Assyria, another empire that seemed unstoppable in its time.
