What does Jeremiah 45:4 mean?

God is telling Jeremiah to deliver a hard message to Baruch, his scribe: everything that seems solid and established, God Himself will dismantle. This was spoken during Judah's final days before exile, when the nation faced judgment for turning away from God. The image of breaking down buildings and uprooting plants captures how complete and sweeping that judgment would be, affecting the entire land. It's a sobering reminder that no human structure, no matter how carefully built, stands outside God's authority, and when a people persistently reject Him, even what seemed permanent can be undone.
