Jeremiah 38:27

Then all the princes came to Jeremiah, and asked him; and he told them according to all these words that the king had commanded. So they stopped speaking with him; for the matter was not perceived.

What does Jeremiah 38:27 mean?

When the officials pressed Jeremiah about his private conversation with the king, he stuck to exactly what King Zedekiah had instructed him to say, leaving out the deeper truth about Jerusalem's coming destruction. Not getting the real story they were fishing for, the princes dropped their interrogation and moved on. What makes this moment quietly powerful is how Jeremiah protected both the king's authority and his own integrity by simply telling the permitted truth, letting God handle what remained unsaid.
