Jeremiah 36:3
“It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I intend to do to them; that they may each return from his evil way; that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.””
What does Jeremiah 36:3 mean?
God is expressing His deepest hope through the prophet Jeremiah: that warning about coming judgment might actually wake people up and turn them around. The verse shows that God's intention in sending difficult messages isn't punishment for its own sake, but a last-ditch effort to reach people before consequences fall. When God outlines what will happen if people don't change, He's essentially saying, "I'd rather you heard this warning and came back to Me than face what's coming." There's real mercy baked into this stern delivery, because forgiveness and restored relationship are always what God wants most. Sometimes we need to hear hard truths about where we're headed in order to recognize we need to change direction.
