What does Jeremiah 36:25 mean?
Even when people who matter speak up against something wrong, power can simply refuse to hear them. King Jehoiakim had already decided to destroy Jeremiah's written prophecies, and three officials named Elnathan, Delaiah, and Gemariah pleaded with him to stop. Their voices carried weight in the palace, yet the king burned the scroll anyway. This captures something painfully real: sometimes having reasonable people on your side isn't enough to change a stubborn mind. What makes this moment significant in Jeremiah's story is that God's response wasn't to give up, but to have Jeremiah write it all again. The message couldn't be silenced, even if one king's pride temporarily won the day.
