““Behold, siege ramps have come to the city to take it. The city is given into the hand of the Chaldeans who fight against it, because of the sword, of the famine, and of the pestilence. What you have spoken has happened. Behold, you see it.”
What does Jeremiah 32:24 mean?
Jeremiah is speaking to God in the middle of Jerusalem's collapse, watching enemy armies camp outside the walls with their siege equipment. He's acknowledging a hard truth: everything God warned would happen is actually happening right now, exactly as predicted. The city faces not just military defeat but starvation and disease—layered devastation that leaves no escape route. There's something both painful and grounded about this moment. Jeremiah isn't denying reality or pretending things might magically turn around; instead, he's naming what's true and, strangely, connecting it back to God's words.
