What does Jeremiah 32:20 mean?
Jeremiah is reminding God (and himself, and us) of something crucial when faith feels thin. He's recalling how God's powerful acts in Egypt, especially the plagues that freed the enslaved Israelites, became legendary, a reputation that echoed across nations and generations. By mentioning that this greatness extends "to this day," he's saying that what God did long ago didn't fade into dusty history, but continues to matter and ripple outward. This matters because Jeremiah was living through catastrophe, watching Jerusalem fall to Babylon, seemingly abandoned by God. So he's doing something we often need to do in dark moments: he's deliberately remembering. He's telling God, "You have a track record of power and faithfulness that still speaks volumes." When we're in seasons where God feels distant or silent, calling to mind what He's already done can help us hold on.
