Will you not from this time cry to me, ‘My Father, you are the guide of my youth?’

What does Jeremiah 3:4 mean?

God is inviting the people of Judah to return to Him with the kind of honest, intimate cry they once knew, addressing Him as a father who guided them through their younger days. There's a gentle longing in this question, as if God is saying: "Don't you remember when you trusted me like that? Won't you call out to me again the way you used to?" Even when we've wandered or grown distant, God is offering us the chance to reconnect with that childhood faith, that simple reliance on Him as someone who cares about our path forward. It's an invitation wrapped in a question, holding both tenderness and the ache of separation.
