Jeremiah 28:15
“Then the prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! Yahweh has not sent you, but you make this people trust in a lie.”
What does Jeremiah 28:15 mean?
Jeremiah is confronting Hananiah, a fellow prophet who has been telling people what they want to hear instead of what God is actually saying. Hananiah prophesied peace and quick freedom from Babylon's control, while Jeremiah delivered God's harder message that judgment and exile were coming. In this moment, Jeremiah exposes the real problem: Hananiah is leading people astray by giving them false comfort based on his own words, not God's.
