Jeremiah 27:3
“Then send them to the king of Edom, to the king of Moab, to the king of the children of Ammon, to the king of Tyre, and to the king of Sidon, by the hand of the messengers who come to Jerusalem to Zedekiah king of Judah.”
What does Jeremiah 27:3 mean?
Jeremiah is being told to send a symbolic message to several neighboring nations through their messengers, who happen to be visiting Jerusalem. The message (carried through yoke symbols mentioned in the preceding verses) warns these nations that God has decided Babylon will conquer the region, and resistance is futile. Rather than encourage rebellion, Jeremiah is called to urge submission to what God has already determined. This is one of the hardest parts of faith: sometimes trusting God means accepting difficult circumstances instead of fighting them, and even helping others understand why surrender is wise.
