Jeremiah 27:15

For I have not sent them,” says Yahweh, “but they prophesy falsely in my name; that I may drive you out, and that you may perish, you, and the prophets who prophesy to you.”

What does Jeremiah 27:15 mean?

During Babylon's rise to power, false prophets were telling the people of Judah that God would quickly deliver them from this threat, but Jeremiah delivers hard truth: God himself says he didn't send these prophets. Their comforting lies are actually dangerous because they'll lead people to make foolish choices instead of facing reality. When we ignore warnings we need to hear and trust only the voices telling us what we want to believe, we often end up worse off than if we'd listened to the difficult truth from the start. This applies today too, whenever we surround ourselves only with people who affirm our choices without question, or when we dismiss warnings about real consequences because they feel uncomfortable.
