Jeremiah 23:35
“You will say everyone to his neighbor, and everyone to his brother, ‘What has Yahweh answered?’ and, ‘What has Yahweh said?’”
What does Jeremiah 23:35 mean?
In this moment, the prophet Jeremiah is describing what will happen when God's patience with false prophets runs out. People will turn to one another asking desperately, "What did God say? What is his answer?" because they've been so confused and misled by the fake spiritual guidance they've been receiving. The irony is sharp: they've been surrounded by so-called prophets claiming to speak God's word, yet they still don't know what God actually wants from them. It's a picture of spiritual hunger meeting spiritual emptiness, where people realize too late that they need real answers from a real God, not the comfortable lies they've been told. This verse reminds us that empty religion leaves people grasping and confused, while truth from God actually satisfies what we're searching for.
