Jeremiah 23:33

“When this people, or the prophet, or a priest, asks you, saying, ‘What is the message from Yahweh?’ Then you shall tell them, ‘“What message? I will cast you off,” says Yahweh.’

What does Jeremiah 23:33 mean?

God is expressing His frustration with people who treat His word as something casual or trendy, asking "What's the latest message from God?" as if they're checking in on gossip. When people keep demanding divine words while ignoring the ones already given, or when they're just curious rather than genuinely seeking to change, God makes clear there's a cost to that carelessness. The message here is rejection and distance, not fresh revelation. It's a sobering reminder that God's word isn't meant to be collected and debated endlessly, but to be taken seriously and lived out, especially when we're going through seasons where we most need His guidance.
