Jeremiah 23:24

What does Jeremiah 23:24 mean?
God is asking this question to help us understand something vital about his nature: there is nowhere in creation so hidden, so remote, or so dark that he cannot see it. This isn't meant to be threatening, though it can feel that way if we're carrying shame or secrets. Rather, it's an invitation to stop exhausting ourselves trying to hide from the one who made us and loves us completely. The context matters here. Jeremiah was speaking to a people full of false prophets and leaders deceiving themselves and others, thinking they could get away with their betrayal of God's ways. God's point is that deception ultimately cannot stand because he is present everywhere. But for anyone genuinely seeking him, that same truth offers deep comfort: we cannot be lost where he cannot find us, we cannot be forgotten in any circumstance, and we cannot fall beyond the reach of his care.
