What does Jeremiah 22:13 mean?
Jeremiah is speaking directly to someone who has gotten rich through dishonest dealings and exploitation. The prophet paints a picture of a person who constructs a beautiful house and fills it with fine rooms, but the foundation of all that wealth is cruelty: taking advantage of workers by refusing to pay them fairly. This was a real problem in Jeremiah's time, when those with power could easily cheat laborers who had no protection. But the deeper truth still matters today: wealth built on injustice never brings real peace or blessing, no matter how impressive it looks from the outside. Jeremiah's warning reminds us that how we get our resources matters just as much as what we do with them.
