Jeremiah 21:13

What does Jeremiah 21:13 mean?

Jerusalem felt secure in its geography—nestled in valleys with rocky terrain that made invasion seem unlikely. The people were arrogant, asking "Who could possibly attack us?" as if their natural defenses were guarantee enough. God is saying he won't tolerate their false confidence or their dismissal of coming judgment, no matter how protected their walls make them feel. Sometimes the things we lean on most for security can become the very places where we're most vulnerable to missing what really matters.
