Jeremiah 2:6
“They didn’t say, ‘Where is Yahweh who brought us up out of the land of Egypt, who led us through the wilderness, through a land of deserts and of pits, through a land of drought and of the shadow of death, through a land that no one passed through, and where no man lived?’”
What does Jeremiah 2:6 mean?
God is pointing out something painful: his people had forgotten the impossible things he'd done for them. He brought them out of slavery in Egypt, guided them through a brutal wilderness where nothing grew and danger lurked everywhere, yet they survived. Now, instead of remembering his faithfulness and calling out to him in their current struggle, they've stopped asking "Where is God?" altogether. This speaks to how easily we can lose sight of what God has done when life gets hard again. We forget past rescues and provision, and we stop even looking for him or expecting his help. The verse is an invitation to remember: when you're in a difficult season, look back at how God has shown up before. That memory can anchor your faith when you're tempted to think he's abandoned you now.
