James 4:2

What does James 4:2 mean?
James is describing a painful cycle many of us recognize: we want things desperately, we're willing to fight for them or resent others who have them, yet we still don't get what we're after. His point is blunt and honest about human nature. Then he pivots to something surprising, suggesting that the real reason we lack isn't that the world is against us, but that we haven't asked God for what we need.
