What does James 2:4 mean?
James is calling out a hard truth: when we treat people differently based on their wealth or status, we're not just being rude, we're actually setting ourselves up as judges who are measuring people by the wrong standard. He's pointing to something subtle that happens in our hearts, where we unconsciously decide that some people matter more than others. The "evil thoughts" aren't necessarily about malice, but about adopting a value system that contradicts what God cares about, which is the dignity and worth of every single person.
