Isaiah 59:1
“Behold, Yahweh’s hand is not shortened, that it can’t save; nor his ear dull, that it can’t hear.”
What does Isaiah 59:1 mean?
This verse speaks directly to a question that haunts many of us in hard times: has God stopped listening, or lost the power to help? Isaiah is telling his struggling community that neither is true. God's ability to act hasn't diminished, and his attention hasn't wandered away. The "shortened hand" and "dull ear" are poetic ways of saying God hasn't become weak or indifferent, even when rescue feels impossibly distant. Sometimes we need to hear this bluntly, especially when circumstances make us wonder if anyone up there is paying attention anymore.
