Isaiah 56:9
“All you animals of the field, come to devour, all you animals in the forest.”
What does Isaiah 56:9 mean?
This is Isaiah calling out a harsh judgment, inviting the wild animals to come consume the land as punishment for the people's unfaithfulness. The image is deliberately shocking: rather than seeing animals as threats to be fought off, the prophet invites them as God's instruments of consequence. It's a poetic way of saying that when people turn away from God and abandon justice, the natural order itself becomes unstable and chaotic. Though the language is severe, it's meant to wake people up to how serious spiritual and moral decline really is, not to celebrate destruction.
