Isaiah 5:19
“Who say, “Let him make speed, let him hasten his work, that we may see it; and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw near and come, that we may know it!””
What does Isaiah 5:19 mean?
The people Isaiah is describing here are mocking God, essentially daring him to prove himself. They're saying, "If God is real and powerful, let him show us something now, let him speed up his plans, let his judgment come so we can actually see it happen." It's the taunt of people who don't believe what the prophets are warning them about. What makes this heartbreaking is that these mockers are getting exactly what they're asking for, whether they realize it or not.
