What does Isaiah 5:11 mean?

Isaiah is calling out people whose lives have become so centered on pleasure and excess that they organize their entire day around it, waking early and staying up late just to drink. The "woe" here isn't a curse but a warning, like a parent saying "this path leads somewhere dark" to someone they care about. The prophet is naming a particular kind of spiritual emptiness: when we chase numbness or excitement instead of meaning, we end up hollowed out. This hits hard for anyone who's noticed themselves structuring their life around an escape, whether that's alcohol, food, work, or anything else we use to fill an inner void.
