Isaiah 41:26
“Who has declared it from the beginning, that we may know? And before, that we may say, ‘He is right?’ Surely, there is no one who declares. Surely, there is no one who shows. Surely, there is no one who hears your words.”
What does Isaiah 41:26 mean?
Isaiah is challenging anyone to step forward and claim they predicted what God is about to do. He's asking: who among all the nations and their so-called wise ones saw this coming? The answer is nobody. This comes during a time when Israel felt abandoned and powerless, so God is reminding them that only he knows the future and has the authority to shape it. The deeper point is comfort for people in exile: while false prophets and other nations make grand predictions, God alone actually knows what's ahead. He doesn't need to announce his plans to anyone beforehand or prove himself to skeptics, because he's the only one with real knowledge and power. It's an invitation to stop looking to human leaders or false gods for guidance and to trust in God's hidden but unfolding purposes instead.
