What does Isaiah 40:27 mean?
When you're suffering and God feels distant, it's tempting to believe he's turned a blind eye to your situation, that your pain doesn't matter to him. Isaiah is addressing people who felt exactly this way, convinced their struggles had slipped God's notice and that justice would never come. The prophet is gently confronting this assumption, not to shame them, but to redirect their attention. The question itself is an invitation to reconsider: Is it really true that God doesn't see, or have you lost sight of his presence because the waiting feels so long? This verse opens the door to the answer Isaiah gives in the verses that follow, reminding us that feeling forgotten and actually being forgotten are two very different things.
