Isaiah 30:4
“For their princes are at Zoan, and their ambassadors have come to Hanes.”
What does Isaiah 30:4 mean?
This verse captures a moment when Judah's leaders were pursuing a foolish political strategy. They were sending envoys to Egypt (Zoan and Hanes were Egyptian cities) seeking military help against the Assyrian threat, instead of trusting God to protect them. The prophet Isaiah uses this as evidence of their misplaced confidence. Going to Egypt for rescue looked practical on the surface, but it showed they'd forgotten that God, not earthly powers, was their true source of strength and safety. It's a gentle reminder that when we're afraid or facing impossible situations, our first instinct to run toward human solutions might actually be running away from the one who can truly help us.
