What does Isaiah 27:5 mean?

God is offering a path toward reconciliation to anyone who feels distant or at odds with him. The image of "taking hold of strength" suggests grasping onto God himself as the means to restore the relationship, rather than trying to fix things through our own efforts or arguments. This is an invitation wrapped in tenderness, repeated for emphasis: peace is available, and it comes through turning toward God rather than away from him. In hard seasons especially, this verse reminds us that God isn't waiting for us to get ourselves together first, but is extending his hand to those willing to reach back.
