I, Yahweh, am its keeper. I will water it every moment. Lest anyone damage it, I will keep it night and day.

What does Isaiah 27:3 mean?

God is speaking here about tending to his vineyard (his people) with constant, devoted care. The image of watering "every moment" and watching "night and day" shows that his protection and nourishment are never paused or half-hearted, but continuous and complete. This comes after Isaiah describes a time of judgment, so the verse is a tender promise that even when discipline comes, God doesn't abandon his people—he remains their attentive gardener, making sure they have what they need to grow. It's meant to reassure us that we're not left to fend for ourselves, and that God's attention to our lives is far more thorough than we could ever manage on our own.
