Isaiah 2:18
“The idols shall utterly pass away.”
What does Isaiah 2:18 mean?
When Isaiah wrote this, his people were surrounded by neighbors who carved wooden and stone idols, treating them as sources of power and protection. He's declaring that all these false gods, all the things people trust in instead of the true God, will eventually crumble and disappear. It's a promise that whatever we've been leaning on instead of God, whatever false comfort or false security we've built our lives around, won't last forever. The invitation in this verse is to stop wasting energy on things that can't actually save us, and to turn toward what's real and eternal.
