Hosea 7:15
“Though I have taught and strengthened their arms, yet they plot evil against me.”
What does Hosea 7:15 mean?
God is expressing the pain of pouring goodness into people's lives, only to have them turn around and reject him. He's not talking about physical training here, but about all the ways he's guided and supported his people—their education, their strength, their survival itself. Yet despite everything he's given them, they choose to work against him anyway. This captures something achingly real that anyone who's loved deeply can understand: the hurt of generosity being met with betrayal. For the Israelites hearing this through Hosea, it was a wake-up call that God noticed their unfaithfulness, but the verse also reveals God's vulnerability in relationship. He doesn't force obedience; he teaches and strengthens, then grieves when those he's cared for turn away.
