Hosea 10:9
““Israel, you have sinned from the days of Gibeah. There they remained. The battle against the children of iniquity doesn’t overtake them in Gibeah.”
What does Hosea 10:9 mean?
Hosea is pointing to a dark moment in Israel's past—a brutal incident at Gibeah (described in Judges 19) where terrible violence occurred—and saying that the nation has been repeating those same kinds of sins ever since. He's essentially telling them, "You haven't moved forward; you're still trapped in that same pattern of wickedness." The prophet is frustrated because God kept sending judgment to stop this behavior, yet the people kept choosing the same path. It's a sobering reminder that spiritual decline often looks like going in circles, returning to old patterns instead of truly repenting and changing direction.
