Hebrews 7:19
“(for the law made nothing perfect), and a bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.”
What does Hebrews 7:19 mean?
The writer of Hebrews is explaining that following the old Jewish laws, while important in their time, couldn't actually transform a person's heart or make them right with God on a deep level. Jesus and the new covenant he established offer something the old system couldn't: a direct, personal relationship with God based on grace rather than endless rule-keeping. That "better hope" is the confidence that comes from knowing you're accepted and loved by God, not because you've perfectly followed all the rules, but because Jesus bridged the gap between us and God once and for all. It's an invitation to stop exhausting yourself trying to earn your way to God and instead to simply draw near to him, knowing you're already welcome.
