What does Hebrews 7:18 mean?
The writer here is explaining why the old system of priests and laws could be set aside—not because it was sinful, but because it couldn't actually accomplish what people ultimately needed. It's like realizing a tool, however good in its time, simply can't do the job anymore. The ancient laws and priesthood were meant to point people toward something better, to draw them closer to God, but they had real limitations in making that relationship complete. So God didn't scrap the old system because it was bad, but because something far more powerful and permanent was coming through Jesus.
