Hebrews 4:15
“For we don’t have a high priest who can’t be touched with the feeling of our infirmities, but one who has been in all points tempted like we are, yet without sin.”
What does Hebrews 4:15 mean?
Jesus understands what you're going through because he lived a fully human life, facing the same kinds of struggles, pain, and temptation that we face. He didn't experience these things from a distance or with some divine safety net, but genuinely and completely. At the same time, he never gave in to sin, which means his compassion for us comes from real strength, not from falling into the same traps we do. This matters especially when you're suffering or battling something hard. You don't have to wonder if God really gets it, if he's too distant or too different to understand. The writer of Hebrews is telling us that our high priest (the one who stands between us and God) is someone who has actually been where you are, who felt hunger and fear and pressure, and who can meet you in your weakness with genuine empathy.
