What does Hebrews 2:14 mean?

God became human in Jesus so he could meet us where we actually live, in bodies that are real and vulnerable. By entering into our full humanity and then dying, Jesus broke the devil's grip on us—the fear and power of death that has always been used to control and oppress people. The writer is saying that Jesus didn't defeat evil from a distance, but by walking through the hardest human experience himself. This gives us deep reassurance that when we face suffering or fear, we're not facing it alone, and those things no longer have final authority over us.
