Hebrews 13:14
“For we don’t have here an enduring city, but we seek that which is to come.”
What does Hebrews 13:14 mean?
The writer of Hebrews is reminding us that this world, with all its structures and systems, isn't our final home. No matter how established or permanent earthly things may seem, they're all temporary. The encouragement here is that as followers of Jesus, our real citizenship belongs to a city that's being built by God, one that will actually last forever. This perspective doesn't mean we ignore our present lives or responsibilities, but rather it helps us hold everything we experience now with a lighter grip, keeping our hearts oriented toward what God is preparing.
