Hebrews 12:25
“See that you don’t refuse him who speaks. For if they didn’t escape when they refused him who warned on the earth, how much more will we not escape who turn away from him who warns from heaven,”
What does Hebrews 12:25 mean?
The writer is urging readers to truly listen when God speaks to us, not to brush him off or ignore his voice. He's making a stark comparison: if people in Old Testament times faced serious consequences for rejecting God's warnings through earthly prophets, how much more serious will it be if we reject God's message now that it comes through Jesus from heaven itself. The point isn't meant to frighten you into obedience, but to help you see that turning away from God has real weight and meaning. It's an invitation to take seriously the opportunity we have to hear from God, and to respond with open hearts rather than closed ones.
