What does Hebrews 12:14 mean?
Living at peace with others and pursuing holiness aren't optional extras for those who follow Jesus, they're essential parts of genuine faith. The writer is saying that how we treat people matters deeply to God, and that inner transformation (becoming more like Christ) is inseparable from actually encountering him. You can't claim to love God while harboring bitterness toward others, and you can't drift into a life of compromise and expect closeness with him. This isn't about earning God's favor through perfect behavior, but rather recognizing that peace and holiness are the natural markers of a heart that's truly turned toward him.
