What does Hebrews 10:24 mean?

The writer here is encouraging the early Christian community to actively stir each other up, in the best way possible, toward living out love and doing good. The word "provoke" might sound negative to modern ears, but it really means to motivate or inspire—like how a good friend's kindness might inspire you to be kinder yourself. This is about intentional community: noticing when someone around you is struggling or settling into apathy, and gently calling them back toward their better nature. In hard seasons especially, we often need people who believe in us enough to encourage us forward, and this verse reminds us that we're meant to be those people for each other too.
